Founder of Bulldog Ale House To Open New Restaurant Concept

Matt Ahmeti, founder and owner of Bulldog Ale House, currently operating at 11 Chicagoland locations, has leased a 7,500 SF standalone building for a new restaurant concept. Unlike Bulldog Ale House, with its focus on rotating craft beer selections, the new restaurant will have a menu based around wine pairings.

Steve Caton, CCIM, CIPS and Nick O’Donnell brokered the transaction for 195 Remington Blvd in Bolingbrook where the new restaurant has plans to open later in 2019. We are excited to watch for developments at the location.

$1.14B Investment in Co-Living Facilities with U.S. Expansion Plans

German property firms, Medici Living and Corestate Capital Holding SA, plan to invest $1.14 billion to develop their co-living facilities across Europe and the United States.

Young professionals that were priced out of major city housing markets are driving the demand for the co-living concept where tiny apartments are grouped around shared facilities such as dining areas, lounges, work spaces, laundry rooms and gyms.

Caton Commercial brokers, Bill Caton, CIPS, Steve Caton, CCIM, and Andy Velkme, CIPS will partner with Medici for site selections as they target U.S. cities for expansion. Medici Living currently operates two sites in New York and one in Chicago under their QUARTERS brand name.

CBS 2 News Features QUARTERS Co-Living Location in Chicago’s Fulton Neighborhood

CBS 2 News Chicago has featured the new QUARTERS co-living building in Chicago’s Fulton Market. Caton Commercial brokers Steve Caton, CCIM, Bill Caton, and Andy Velkme have partnered with The Medici Group to bring QUARTERS to the Midwestern United States. The co-living concept is gaining ground among millennials and others who wish to be in the heart of a CBD with plenty of nearby amenities, without shouldering the city’s rising rents.

Medici’s co-living concept Quarters, and its technology platform, allow members to rent furnished spaces including all utilities, through their smartphones, and instantly become plugged into an active community. Further, Quarters gives members the flexibility to move globally from one city to another.

Coming Soon: NWC Weber & Renwick | DogHaus

Caton Commercial  recently sold the lot at the northwest corner of Weber & Renwick roads in Crest Hill. Caton is pleased to announce that DogHaus, a California-based restaurant, will open in fall of 2018. Steve Caton, Andy Velkme, and Joe Herron of Caton Commercial were involved in the transaction.

DogHaus first opened their doors in California serving gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers, and fried chicken sandwiches. DogHaus is renowned for their use of King’s Hawaiian bread on their burgers and dogs. The California based burger joint opened three DogHaus locations here in Illinois; one in Rockford, one in Decatur, and the recently opened location in Lincoln Park. DogHaus plans to open their Romeoville location in fall of 2018.

Caton Commercial has brokered the sale of 1296 W. Boughton Road in Bolingbrook. Under contract after only 38 days on market, the property closed in November, 2017 with a final sales price of $1,000,000; over the listing price. The seller was Swart Nec Association and was represented by Caton Commercial’s Steve Caton, CCIM and John Andrade. The buyer was Kaplan Papadakis Gournis and was represented by Mid-America’s Sean Bossy. This former Applebee’s restaurant will soon become a new location for ATI Physical Therapy.

Caton Commercial has brokered the sale of 2551 N. Bridge Street | Yorkville, IL 60560. The property closed on December 18, 2017, with a final sales price of $765,000. The seller was Triumph Community Bank and was represented by Caton Commercial’s Brian Blackmore and Steve Caton, CCIM The buyer was Blake Mellecker and was represented by Inland Real Estate Brokerage’s Heather Devermann. This former Bank will soon become offices for Midwest Environmental Consulting Services.

Caton Commercial Real Estate Group  has sold the property at 1100 Roosevelt Rd. in Glen Ellyn. The property closed in June, 2016 with a final sales price of $300,000. The seller was 2nd Generation Properties, Glen Ellyn, LLC. It was purchased by Combined Oil with the intention to develop the property as a new gas station. The adjacent property located at 1090 Roosevelt Rd. was also sold in 2014 by Caton Commercial  to a complementary user for the fuel station,  Dunkin Donuts. The Dunkin Donuts business is now open.

The building was previously called McBrody’s across from the Will County Judicial Building in Downtown Joliet. Steve Caton of  Caton Commercial Real Estate represented the seller and Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell represented as purchaser in the transaction.

Bulldog Ale House Opens 6th Location in Rolling Meadows

Caton Commercial Real Estate Group tenant Bulldog Ale House  has opened its 6th location at 1480 Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

The 6,000 SF  building, previously a Chili’s restaurant, was completely renovated to modernize the appearance and add seating. New ownership also added two patios with outdoor fireplaces. The inside of the restaurant features garage doors that open onto the patios, ecelectic multi-tone wood walls, and a copper bar front. In addition to indoor seating choices, which include spacious booths, tables, and high-top table, Bulldog patrons can drink and dine outside on both patios.

“Owner Matt Ahmeti chose this location because of the many great offices in the area, and opened up to large success with businesses people going out for lunch and dinner,” sas tenant representatives Steve Caton, CCIM  and  Nick O’Donnell.

The Rolling Meadows Bulldog Ale House    joins  five other  locations in the Chicagoland area including Roselle, Carol Stream, New Lenox, North Aurora, and Bolingbrook.  Soon to join the suburban locations, two new Bulldog Ale Houses will open downtown Chicago in Loyola and on State Street.

I always find that trade shows and conventions are a good indicator on how the economy and your industry are doing. This year was no exception. Having been going to ICSC events since 2004, I witnessed the robust years in 2005-2007, where attendances in Chicago and Las Vegas were insane, so crowded that you could barely meet the people you wanted to meet, to the slim years of 2009-2011 where everyone got together to complain that not much was happening and no one could get any money for their projects or purchases.
